Artwork Submission Guidelines

Are you a T-Shirt Designer?
Do you have an idea for a designer T-shirt line?
We look forward to working with you!

NC Tees of Raleigh has a pre-press specialist and designer that will help you create the perfect T-shirt design. As long as you have an idea, we will help you create a unique tee. So go ahead and send over your bitmap, doc, ppt, jpeg, tiff, png, pdf, ai, eps, and psd files – we can make it work.

For those with more than an idea, below is a list of NC Tees best practices for submitting artwork for t-shirt printing:

Use Adobe Illustrator if possible
File Types – .ai or .eps format, or a saved .pdf from Illustrator.

Review your artwork
Spell check – No brainer right? You’d be surprised. But don’t worry, we’ll send over a digital proof prior to putting any ink on any garments.

Work with pantone colors/spot colors
Work with pantone colors/spot colors for perfect color match and to eliminate unwanted surprises. Be sure to use the uncoated version of pms color.

Convert your fonts to Outlines
Or, Text to curves if you’re using CorelDraw.

Create your artwork at the actual size
A full front print is usually around 11″. You can go bigger for extended size shirts. Max out at around 15″. A full front for youth sizes is around 9″.

Do not stress over layers or color separations
We’ll take care of that for you. In order to make your artwork look the same on the shirt as it does on your monitor, a screen printer must control the printing press, the mesh in the screens, and the inks. All of these variables can drastically affect the output of the particular design. Each of these variables are different in each print shop. At NC Tees, we have well over 20 years of experience and will best know how to separate the colors. If your artwork has layers or color separations, then most likely our design team will redo the separations to ensure success.

If you use layers
Group your vector objects together.

Provide us with an idea
Summarize and provide a graphic on shirt representation. Give us a call and give us a general overview of how you want your shirt to look and how you have created your artwork.

Submit artwork with six or less spot colors.

For Clarity
The thinnest lines should not be less than 1.0 point.
Fonts should be no smaller than 12 point for serif fonts and 10 point for sans serif. This will allow for clean, readable text.

Dots per inch (DPI)
If using photoshop, then make sure your minimum resolution is 300dpi at 100% of actual print size.
